Cultural Diversity Broadcast: the German PerspectiveReport by Niki Avgitidou Babel e.V., Intercultural Center in the German city of Berlin, closed the first live with its intervention and performance.
Four participants with four different backgrounds greeted the audience in their respective mother tongues (German, Italian, Polish and Romanes) and then went on introducing their creations with the help of Miriam Simone, youth worker for Babel e.V. The first segment showed the short video created by Natalia Taramina, 18 y.o. , volunteer in Babel. Here, she created a beautiful work of art with water colors. “I chose black, yellow and red as the main colors for this painting because they represent the flag of Germany” she said. “But the beauty of art is that anybody can see anything in each creation and interpret it in their own way. This is why art is also an expression of cultural and opinion plurality” added Natalia. Meanwhile, Stefan Straus (22 y.o.) (previous volunteer and now youth worker in Babel e.V.) and Adrian Rech were excited for the live execution that they were about to perform! The duo composed music and lyrics of a song called “International”. They brought such an energetic vibe while rapping! They said they wanted to communicate the need of debugging stereotypes and living all as one. In their song, they talked about their personal experiences of discrimination while they also committed to spread a message of love and mutual understanding.
