Reported by Niki Avgitidou Taller d'Art, Cultura i Creació (TACC) is taking part in an Erasmus+ seminar about youth work in Berlin this week and as part of the activities they will do a livestream this Friday, 15th of October.
There is still no youth work in this sense in many countries, and even in the countries where it exists, it is very often the playground for economic cuts in the state budget. Therefore, it is necessary to make the idea known not only among social workers and youth workers, but also in society and among political actors.
Written by Niki Avgitidou On Saturday, 25th of September, and as a response to an international call that was made by the Revolutionary Association of the Women of Afghanistan (RAWA), a feminist collective of Lisbon (A Coletiva) made an open call for a manifestation showing solidarity for women, men and communities in Afghanistan. Our organization, Associação Mais Cidadania, in collaboration with our Youth Center, +Skillz, decided to support this movement by attending the manifestation, in an effort to raise awareness towards the struggles that Afghan people and communities are facing.
Associação Mais Cidadania deeply believed and believes that, when it comes to humanitarian crisis, such as the one currently happening in Afghanistan, it is important for social awareness and individual and collective action to be taken. As such, besides attending the manifestation, we are now in the process of uploading a collection of information and publications from different sources to our website.

Cultural Diversity Broadcast: the German PerspectiveReport by Niki Avgitidou Babel e.V., Intercultural Center in the German city of Berlin, closed the first live with its intervention and performance.
Four participants with four different backgrounds greeted the audience in their respective mother tongues (German, Italian, Polish and Romanes) and then went on introducing their creations with the help of Miriam Simone, youth worker for Babel e.V. The first segment showed the short video created by Natalia Taramina, 18 y.o. , volunteer in Babel. Here, she created a beautiful work of art with water colors. “I chose black, yellow and red as the main colors for this painting because they represent the flag of Germany” she said. “But the beauty of art is that anybody can see anything in each creation and interpret it in their own way. This is why art is also an expression of cultural and opinion plurality” added Natalia. Meanwhile, Stefan Straus (22 y.o.) (previous volunteer and now youth worker in Babel e.V.) and Adrian Rech were excited for the live execution that they were about to perform! The duo composed music and lyrics of a song called “International”. They brought such an energetic vibe while rapping! They said they wanted to communicate the need of debugging stereotypes and living all as one. In their song, they talked about their personal experiences of discrimination while they also committed to spread a message of love and mutual understanding. Cultural Diversity Broadcast: the Portuguese PerspectiveReport by Niki Avgitidou On 21st of May, the first live of the More Citizenship Network was broadcasted on the theme of Cultural Diversity. Local volunteers, Bernardete Camota and Inês Santos participated in the live with Paula Mendes, as their translator, and representated Associação Mais Cidadania, one of the 5 organizations who engaged in the live.
Cultural Diversity Broadcast: the French PerspectiveReport by Niki Avgitidou During the first broadcast of the More Citizenship network, which was dedicated to Cultural Diversity, Compagnons Batisseurs contributed to this experience through the participation of two European Solidarity Corps volunteers, Habiba and Alessandra. Together they shared their unique point of view about to cultural diversity. Habiba, ESC volunteer from Tunisia in ANCB, presented the French movement Compagnons Batisseurs and a video related to the international promotion of volunteers 2020-2021. She also talked about her experience with cultural diversity during her year of volunteering in France. Cultural Diversity Broadcast: the Spanish Perspective Report by Niki Avgitidou On 21st of May, the first live of the MCN took place. The live was dedicated to Cultural Diversity Day. The team of TACC agreed to gather all items they identified as ‘culture’ and presented it in a 5min-video with a song, as background music. They wanted to highlight diverse culture as a whole and a common thing, as they found themselves as citizens of the world (for instance, Luis Ángel is from Bolivia, Milena is from Uruguay, and Raquel is now living in Northern Ireland). The video consisted on, approximately, 45-seconds segments so, that all participants could be somehow engaged. A "mosaic" (or multi-screen) with clips of short videos of Luis Ángel dancing in different styles, a painting of faces made by Clara, a "mosaic" of gifs showing different styles of clothing and hairstyles made by Milena, a collection of "key" moments from cooking crêpes, Spanish omelet (tortilla de patatas) and pizza made by Julia and a collection of pictures of youth exchanges and Raquel dancing or playing the piano, were portrayed throughout the video. Raquel was also the representative of the group on the live event, even though she was broadcasting from Belfast. During the interview with Iztok, she talked about the relation of Cultural Diversity and the fact that she was broadcasting from Northern Ireland. Then, she introduced the idea behind the video, leaving the audience with the message that we can find Cultural Diversity everywhere, since we are citizens of the world and it's so enriching living together. Cultural Diversity Broadcast: the Slovenian Perspective Report by Niki Avgitidou Youth center Kotlovnica hosted the first livestream of the More Citizenship Network dedicated to Cultural Diversity Day on 21st of May. The broadcast included 5 associations from Germany, France, Portugal, Slovenia and Spain and their point of view about the various elements of cultural diversity. Furthermore, Gašper Selko and Iztok Zver talked to the MCN Blog about their experience, saying that "It was a real pleasure to "host" the first edition of MCN's Livestream events. The preparatory online meetings with all cooperating partners were very productive and it was wonderful to see how initial ideas (drafts :)) were developing step by step and, ultimately, led to the production of what felt like a truly joyous as well as informative experience of a culturally diverse Livestream show”. During the last month of December, AMC organised a local voluntary action to promote the Sustainable Development Goals (SGS's) among young people. During two weeks, a group of 5 volunteers developed various community activities and provided engagement through social networks by making creative and innovative contents. The main purpose? To draw attention to taking measures to assist the structured and sustainable development of our community! Check the video of this initiative.
